FedEx paid me a visit today! Delivered some ’73 Camaro rear bumper brackets and rear bumper pads:
The rubber pads go in the corner between the bumper and car:
As I understand it, they are for when you use a bumper jack on the car.

The postman brought me something for the Camaro today! OEM Rally Sport fender emblem – still need to find another one for the other side!
09-11-2016 Status Update
Wow! No updates for 3 months! You know it is bad when the guy that drives the big brown truck asks you about how the car is coming along when he brings more supplies! I got side-tracked this summer with some other things. I was hoping to have the bottom (street side) of the car, trunk, and firewall (engine side) done this summer. Now it looks like it will be next summer. I ended up replacing my indoor sauna (old one wasn’t repairable) and then bought a new bedroom set. Then I went to Colorado to visit family for a week. I also had company visit me for a while. I also worked on some landscaping projects, got an invisible fence installed and am training the dog for that. Had some damage due to lightening – currently working on getting my desktop back up and running again.
So I have done some work in between things and have obtained some new parts which I will bring you up-to-date-on. Yesterday I drove 600 miles 10 hours with a 30 minute break to get gas and parts – I obtained a OEM RS front header and valance and the remaining bumper brackets (correct for a 1973 RS). I believe this to have come from South Carolina before I got it. I now have all OEM (not re-manufactured) parts for the RS front nose… Should be all set as far as those parts go!
I have been working on the bottom of the floor and trunk. Using the dentfix for some, and a wire wheel for the rest. Because of all of the curves and contours of the floor, the parts I can’t access with the tools, I am manually scuffing with a scuff pad:

Purchased a NOS A/C actuator:
Bought a rebuilt steering column correct for a 1973 Camaro:

So that should bring you up-to-date. The plan now is to keep stripping the rest of the shell, do some body work, and next summer when it is warm again, finish the stripped metal with primer, paint, and undercoating although the car won’t yet be ready for final paint. I hope to get back at is next weekend – will wait and see!
Found a 73 RS Nose
So I located a 73 RS nose 1.5 hours away in St. Paul. I picked it up yesterday morning. Fairly nice condition with the exception of a little warping. It has been stored in a cool environment for the last 20 years. No cracks in the urethane, mounting brackets had light rust and pitting – which were blasted and painted – VERY pleased with this find!:
RS Grill Filler
Located an RS Grill Filler which I will have re-chromed. No cracks or pitting:
73 Seat Belt Repairs
Received some pictures of my seat belts that are being worked on – in no particular order:

Also located someone that repairs the female ends to make them stronger as they have been known to crack and break – the 4 female ends will be replaced with parts like what is shown below:
The plastic piece shown above is known to break under the constant pressure of the spring used for the button.
Inner Fenders
Picked up a pair of OEM inner fenders today. They were about an hour away and I was able to purchase them for $70 – a fraction of the cost of a repo fender. They were sand blasted about 5 years ago, so I will have them sand blasted again and Epoxy primed by the same resource that did my 12-bolt.
The broken piece is what I had to work with. I didn’t feel like trying to weld it back on.
There is one bad spot – I have not yet decided if I will patch it or not.
There is also a small crack that I may weld up.
The black one looked to be in ok shape, but I am not sure if it was a repo or not – it came with the car. Of course the one I need to fix up is the one I don’t have an extra of.
1973 Camaro RS Braces
It has taken me a year, but I finally have all 11 pieces of the government mandated braces for a 1973 Camaro RS. It was a year ago, I was able to find a pair of NOS long fender bars and now I have the remaining pieces! These are very hard to find all 11 pieces!
