4-speed shifter hump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I was referencing the measurements of my manual 4-speed shifter hump I installed from <a href=\"http:\/\/nastyz28.com\/forum\/threads\/4-speed-hump-measurements-from-a-72.234718\/\">here<\/a>\u00a0and realized I was off by about an inch and need to re-do my work. \u00a0Today was spent analyzing, measuring and planning next steps. \u00a0This is the piece that the shifter sticks through that I need to redo:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2016\/10\/10-25-2016-4-speed-shifter-hump\/img_2276\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2918\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2918\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2276.jpg\" alt=\"img_2276\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2276.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2276-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I re-attached the bracing and used an older console to cross-reference since I am wanting it to be as close to the stock location as possible and will be using a similar console:<a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2016\/10\/10-25-2016-4-speed-shifter-hump\/img_2277\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2919\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2919\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2277.jpg\" alt=\"img_2277\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2277.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2277-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am actually impressed that I got it this close on my first try, but referencing the picture and measurements in the above link, I need to adjust the location which will mean cutting it out, patching part of the hole, and re-attaching a new shifter-hump.<a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2016\/10\/10-25-2016-4-speed-shifter-hump\/img_2278\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2920\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2920\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2278.jpg\" alt=\"img_2278\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2278.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2278-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have accumulated some donor parts. \u00a0Not the top piece in brown is the original section I cut out the first time (on the blue piece):<a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2016\/10\/10-25-2016-4-speed-shifter-hump\/img_2279\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2921\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2921\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2279.jpg\" alt=\"img_2279\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2279.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2279-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the brace is closer than I would like &#8211; this piece looks to be from a firebird, but close enough&#8230; \u00a0(on a Camaro, the brace is further back by comparing to my patch panel)<a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2016\/10\/10-25-2016-4-speed-shifter-hump\/img_2280\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2922\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2922\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2280.jpg\" alt=\"img_2280\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2280.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2280-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After some thinking and experimenting and a failed attempt to remove the brace, I ended up cutting it as close to the brace as possible:<a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2016\/10\/10-25-2016-4-speed-shifter-hump\/img_2281\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2923\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2923\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2281.jpg\" alt=\"img_2281\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2281.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2281-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Using my other donor piece as a mold, the larger piece I will be working with appears to be flexible enough that I might be able to use it as a patch piece with a little persuasion&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2016\/10\/10-25-2016-4-speed-shifter-hump\/img_2282\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2924\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2924\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2282.jpg\" alt=\"img_2282\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2282.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_2282-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More to come&#8230;
