Steering Shaft Rebuild"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last couple of evenings have been spent rebuilding the steering shaft &#8211; there are some build threads, so I will just clarify a few parts where I struggled &#8211; first let me clarify I will be installing a tilt steering column for a 73 Camaro and it needs a specific shaft which differs from a non-tilt. &nbsp;For reference &#8211; the main source of information is:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/nastyz28.com\/threads\/steering-shaft-rebuild-process.92926\/\">http:\/\/nastyz28.com\/threads\/steering-shaft-rebuild-process.92926\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is what I started with:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2017\/06\/6-7-2017-steering-shaft-rebuild\/img_2566\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3225\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3225\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_2566.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_2566.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_2566-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Notice the 2 clips on the housing to the right &#8211; once you straighten them out, there is a washer the unit has to slide over to come off. &nbsp;I needed a little persuasion to get it to come off, but managed to do it without any damage:<a href=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/2017\/06\/6-7-2017-steering-shaft-rebuild\/img_2567\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3226\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3226\" src=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_2567.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"757\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_2567.jpg 757w, https:\/\/dougbratton.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_2567-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now the early style has a pin to remove, this is not that style &#8211;
