After cleaning with a Wax & Tar remover, sanding, and re-cleaning… today I put the first of two coats of primer. Had an issue with my regulator and got a few runs that I now have to sand before adding the second coat of primer. Those are broom handles they are standing on!
Took the afternoon off on Thursday to paint the new garage side access door. Also primed and painted the door frame. The door is white to match the trim.

I cut down a grape vine and two trees behind the garage today to help protect my new shingles. A lot more sun now – perhaps something will start to grow behind there now!

Here are the results after a heavy downpour – The rain can’t drain with the existing steps and sidewalk, so it ends up in the basement seeping in through the walls:
Front half of house is done, need to do the back half and still need to replace the siding they took off of the garage. Should be done tomorrow, then I can have the rain gutters installed and finish the fill-dirt in the front yard.
