Started out using my Harbor Freight plum bob and crayons to get some reference points.  Because the body is on jack stands and not 100% level, the measurements are slightly off from what the manual says.

Firewall bracket to floor and mark with Crayon:

Subframe mount under seat to floor and mark with Crayon:

A little off from what the book says…  Repeated five times to ensure the measurement was accurate.

Now start drilling spot welds from inside the car:

and from side bracket:

Start working from middle of car to outside of car using the seam buster (from earlier post) and pry bars to gently pry the bracket away from firewall:

I wasn’t sure if there were two columns of welds like the passenger side – there weren’t:

Floor and toe-boards to repair before putting new firewall brackets on and BEFORE replacing with the full floor pan:

I was relieved to have the Plasma cutter to cut up the old firewall bracket in pieces which helped immensely in the removal!

Just about have the passenger side firewall bracket removed.  Good thing I am replacing them because the bottom was pretty much rusted out!  Used the plasma cutter to cut most of it out.  Also used the seam busters to break the spot welds.  I tried drilling the spot welds out, but had difficulty locating them.  Need to order some floor pans to cut out the toe boards from.  Doubt I will get much done next weekend as I will have company this week!

Found some replacement subframe bolts from Classic Industries.  Went ahead and ordered two of them for connecting the firewall brackets to the jig I am building.

Started working on removing the Firewall Brackets today.  Having difficulty locating the spot welds, so I ordered a new tool that should help.  Search for ‘Seam Buster’ and you will find the tool (pics below):

Should have this by next weekend and will see how well it works!
